It was a weekend yielding in arrests and summonses for folks looking to party at 'The Grove' in Orono. Police and The Grove's management turned to new tactics to keep residents at the complex safe.

Officers and security teams took to The Grove to ensure no parties got out of hand over the weekend. Extra Police officers put on patrol both in uniform and in plain dress clothes issued 28 summonses from Thursday through Sunday. According to the Bangor Daily News 25 people were issued for possession of alcohol by a minor, two for possession of marijuana and another for possession of drug paraphernalia.

In addition, 4 arrests where made over the weekend at The Grove. Two were charged with criminal trespassing, one with disorderly conduct and another with failing to provide police his correct identity and refusing to submit to arrest.

The company that owns The Grove, Campus Crest Communities Inc., released a statement last week stating that management will be increasing security and working with police to keep residents safe. “Residents who compromise the safety and security of The Grove community will not be tolerated.
