Take a look at how many folks visited New England's only National Park.

2,563,000 visitors paid a visit to Acadia National Park in 2014. That's the highest visitation numbers since 1999! It's also roughly 300,000 more than 2013 when the park closed two weeks early due to the government shutdown. An estimated 2.25 million visited that year.

It was also a great year for the propane powered Island Explorer bus system. The buses shuttled more than half a million passengers for the year. Also, over the summer (of 2014) the Island Explorer transported it's 5 millionth passenger. The bus system started in 1999.

Acadia National Park has been consistently popping up in travel magazines and national news stories. Perhaps this is why even more folks from away have ventured downeast?
