Murder at a San Diego school inspired a rock song, an Australian band made rock history, Harrison hit #1 with his benefit album, and Kiss was Kiss for the very first time!

A very hairy George Harrison had organized and performed with his friends during The Concert For Bangladesh, and it was this day in 1973 that the triple album hit #1.  It featured Bob Dylan, Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, Leon Russell, Eric Clapton and Ravi Shankar.  Everyone was very hairy at the time, and were aboard to collect money for war and famine relief in the area.

Also on this day in 1973, Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss made their first appearance as Kiss at the Popcorn Club in New York.  The band had previously been known as Wicked Lester.  Kiss is the I-95 Band Of The Day!

It was this day in 1979 that a 16 year-old from San Diego fired a 22 caliber rifle that her father had given her for Christmas into the entry way of the school across the street.  In doing so, Brenda Spencer would kill the principal and the custodian of the Cleveland Elementary School, eight children and a cop were also hurt.  Eventually a TV reporter would make contact with Spencer who was holed up in her home, and when asked why she did it she replied, "I don't like Mondays."

This day in 1983 Men At Work hit #1 on the pop and album charts at the same time with their song Downunder and the album Business As Usual.  The group from Australia would lose their popularity almost as quick as they achieved it, comparable to a country act.
