5 Non-Traditional Valentine’s Gift Ideas For the Woman In Your Life
Want to do something unusual for Valentine's Day, rather than giving the woman in your life flowers or candy? Here are a few suggestions!
The traditional gifts like jewelry, a box of chocolates, or roses are always welcomed gifts on Valentine's Day. But women also love it when you get more inventive with your gift. And let's face it, sometimes you have to give your wallet a break! So here are a few ideas for gifts that show your love and devotion, without necessarily breaking the budget!
- 1
Have a Chick Flick Night
Most men I've met would rather poke their eyes out than have to sit through chick flicks. I mean, where are the car chases and explosions?! But, for your loved one, give her an evening of chick flicks. This means, sitting through whatever she wants to watch. You can't fall asleep or roll your eyes at the sappy parts. Keep her popcorn bowl and beverage glass full. And hold her hand. She'll love it!
- 2
Make Her Favorite Dinner
What meal always makes her smile? Is it something that you can cook? If so, treat her to a home-cooked meal. It doesn't have to be perfect, but she'll appreciate the effort. And, if you add some candles, soft music, and wine, that will help too! Personally, I love it when a man cooks for me and I'm always touched when I realize he's noticed my favorite foods. It shows that he's paying attention!

Let Her Pick The Activity
What does she love to do? Shopping? Bowling? Ice Skating? Give your lovely lady a day of doing what she wants...with you. Women, as a rule, tend to put their own preferences aside, to do what the guy wants to do. (I can't tell you how often I've walked around motorcycle stores) Tell her that the day is up to her, and go along with whatever she wants to do. And resist the urge to suggest what YOU want to do, when she falters. She'll come up with something!

Surprise Her With a Clean House
Of all the gifts I could receive for Valentine's Day, this one would mean the most. To walk into my house, after a long day, and find the dishes washed, floors vacuumed and scrubbed, and living room dusted and tidied would bring tears to my eyes! (I can't be alone in this thought, right?) This might even make a great family activity, if you have kids. Get them involved by having them clean their rooms. Pair this up with numbers 1 and/or 2 and you're golden!

Spa Treatment
Every woman loves to feel pampered. So, if you can afford it, a gift certificate (and promise to watch the kids while she goes) to a local spa is a great gift. Manicures, pedicures, or even a massage will make her feel extra-special. But, if you can't afford that, you can give her a spa day at home. Surprise her by drawing a bath for her, with scented oils, and candlelight. Bring her a glass of wine. Offer to wash her hair or rub her neck. While she relaxes, toss her bathrobe in the dryer for a few minutes, so it's warm when she gets out. And if you really want to spoil her, offer to paint her toenails!
