    Babe the Blue Ox Statue

Bangor's famous 31-foot-tall Paul Bunyan statue is lonely. Plans for a 17-foot statue of Paul’s buddy, Babe the Blue Ox, are moving forward! Construction of the $200,000 project will hopefully will start in summer.

    Waterfront Improvements

Back in August FTL Design Engineering Studio presented the city council’s Business and Economic Development Committee plans to find a balance between the needs of the concert venue and allowing more public access to the Bangor Waterfront. One big idea is to cover a portion of the venue with an acoustic shell and a permanent tensile canopy. Other suggested improvements include a community plaza with its own smaller performance venue, improved trails, more trees and vegetation, public art, shaded areas and signs in French (and English) to direct visitors to other businesses and destinations in Bangor. Also, PERMANENT BATHROOMS!

Rebuild the Family Dollar off State St.

Back in February the Family Dollar on the corner of Oak and State streets in Bangor was heavily damaged by fire and had to be closed. Family Dollar’s corporate office say they will clean up the location then begin the rebuilding process. No opening date has been set.

Keep North Woods Law on Animal Planet

Sadly this year the popular Animal Planet series that features Maine game wardens on the job will end. The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife has decided not to enter into another contract with Engel Entertainment. I'm just sayin' it's not too late to change your mind, MDIFW. Please? PLEASE?!
