The Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race is Saturday, and it's not too late to join in on the action.

The 52nd Annual Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race is Saturday, April 21. Folks looking to join in on the action can still register. Participants who sign up in advance will get a discount on registration fees. You can preregister until 11AM April 20. Race day registration will be available.

The 16 mile course begins in the town of Kenduskeag, and ends at the Penobscot River in Downtown Bangor.

Rescue teams have been preparing for the race. The Bangor Fire Department took to Facebook to show some of the swiftwater training they've been conducting.

Officials recommend every participant wear a wet suit. In recent years the air temperature has been comfortable for spectating, but the water temperature remains very coldThey also recommend polypropylene fleece, or wool apparel.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, the race day forecast is partly sunny with temps near 50.
