Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that don’t make the grade! Over the weekend grabbed my bow and arrows and ventured to the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see 'Mockingjay Part 1'

This movie runs about and 2 hours is an adventure, sci-fi and is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, some disturbing images and thematic material. The film has an incredible cast, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks.

Review:

I have seen all the other Hunger Games movies and not read the books.  I think in the movie world as long as they have translated the gist of the story well that is an advantage.  The action was good and well placed, the cast at this point is very tight and committed to their characters.  It was sad to see Phllip Seymour Hoffman, kind of like watch a ghost and such a waste. Anyway, knowing that this was one of two parts of course it leaves you hanging.  That said, I think the time taken here to completely set up the situation and shift in the attitudes of the characters was well taken, especially for those of us who have not read the books.  So on a scale of 1-10, I’d give ‘Mockingjay’ an easy 9.
