A Fun Event To Support An Important Senior Service

I am an independent woman and like most of us the nuts don't fall that far from the tree.  My mom is in her 80s, drives, reads, gardens and enjoys her retirement.  That is not to say that aging come free of physical prices.  Enter services like LiveSAFE. LiveSAFE and other similar services offer an easy, one-button personal emergency response service that provides help 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, allowing people to live independently in their own homes, where they are most comfortable. Mom has one and I can say she is more confident know she has it and so are my brother and I.

This service is what the up coming antiques appraisal event Saturday, April 27 from 10 am to 2 pm at Dirigo Pines Retirement Community in Orono will support through Rosscare plus it's fun.  If you like the Antiques Road Show this event is for you.

The fee for appraisal is $10 for one item, $18 for two items and $25 for three items. Featured will be Bruce A. Buxton, a licensed appraiser from Portland, known for his entertaining and lively style. Bruce has 36 years of experience as an expert antique and fine art appraiser.

Do you have Great Grandma’s pearls or your grandmother’s engagement ring? Elizabeth Yates Turner from Damariscotta also will be there to appraise jewelry. Gold is at an all-time high so sift through your jewelry box. You may have hidden treasure.

Turner’s experience includes working as an appraiser in the fine jewelry department at Skinner’s Auction Gallery in Boston. Turner attended the College for Appraisers and is a member of the Gemological Institute of America and the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers.

Both appraisers will look carefully at the items and make their determination as to the approximate value. If you have any information about the item, write it down, lest you forget something when it is your turn at the table. This event is appraisal only and no items will be bought or sold, guaranteeing an unbiased assessment of the antiques.
