A New Virtual Lighthouse Experience at Maine Maritime Museum is the First of It’s Kind

The new permanent exhibit at the Maine Maritime Museum is the first of it's kind anywhere. Into the Lantern: A Lighthouse Experience will take you on a virtual trip to the top of the Cape Elizabeth Two Lights Lighthouse to experience the lighthouse lantern room.

The Maine Maritime Museum has constructed a full-scale replica of the lantern room and it contains an original lens from the east tower at Two Lights. The exhibit is designed to create a realistic experience of being atop the lighthouse, complete with time-lapse footage, audio, and wind that changes with the seasons to keep the visuals and the atmosphere as true to life as possible.

The grand opening of the Into the Lantern: A Lighthouse Experience exhibit is June 17th. The day will feature discounted cruises all day and lots of lighthouse-themed games and activities for the kids. They’ll end the day with a Lighthouse Lovers Cruise.
