We all know where Acadia National Park's Schoodic Point is, but, how about Grindstone Point?  Yeah, it's pretty remarkable as well.

When you make the trip to Winter Harbor, take a right when you hit Main Street.  You'll drive by small stores, a couple of real nice restaurants, the post office and the local bank.  When you get to Grindstone Avenue, take a left, and break out the camera!

Make the trip down the Grindstone Neck peninsula, past the golf course and the real nice summer homes, where you'll then eventually make your way down a small hill to the parking area for Grindstone Point!

Walk down the steps and admire all the beauty that is Maine from Grindstone Point!

To the left across the bay, you'll see the rock ledges and the Schoodic Loop Road. Directly across you'll see Spectacle, Ned, Mark and Turtle Islands.  To your right you'll see Mount Desert Island.

There's a small trail to the right that you can also use to access the very rocky shoreline.  But, guess what!  There's a whole bunch of very flat rocks that you can picnic on!

It's free to access this beautiful area, but please drive slowly, because there may be someone peacefully walking the dog or riding a bike to the same destination.

Enjoy!
