Most of Maine's premiere national park opens for the season today!  Acadia National Park, a destination for millions of summer tourists and in state visitors alike opened the Park Loop Road and the Hulls Cove Visitors Center this morning at 8:30!

This Saturday and Sunday, the 19th and 20th,  are "Fee Free Days", so there is no charge for admittance to the Park!

Acadia National Park will open just about one month earlier this year than it did last when the federal budget keep the gates closed until mid May.

The popular Park Loop Road provides access to great destinations like Thunder Hole, the Jordan Pond House and Sand Beach. Visitors will not be able to drive to the top of Mount Cadillac until this Friday when the road to the summit officially opens.

Most hiking trails are open, although two of the trails including the Precipice are closed due to nesting peregrine falcons.  Most of the trails are currently very wet and some may even still have a trace of snow, so prepare for that.

Weekly and annual passes to the Park are currently available at Park Headquarters on Route 233 between 8AM and 4PM.
