Additional charges have been levied against two men accused of entering homes in three towns and burglarizing the homes while the homeowners slept. New arrests have also been made.

William Cushman, 22 of Bangor, and Randall Cressey, 23 of Hampden are accused of entering homes in Bangor, Orrington, and Veazie and stealing from homeowners while they were asleep in another room. Police say they were crimes of opportunity, with the burglars entering homes and cars in which the doors were unlocked. The thieves would take whatever they could find, within a few steps of the door.In one case, the homeowner heard a noise and walked  in on the crime, causing the intruder to run.

Bangor Police Lieutenant Paul Edwards said in a press release today that new charges have been added in the case.

Cushman is charged with 4 counts of Class B Felony Burglary, 1 count of Class C Felony Burglary, and 1 Misdemeanor count of Burglary to a Motor Vehicle.

Cressey is charged with 2 counts of Class B Felony Burglary, 1 count of Class C Felony Attempted Burglary, and 1 Misdemeanor count of Burglary to a Motor Vehicle.

Penobscot County Chief Deputy Troy Morton said in a press release today that three others are facing charges in connection with the case: Bianca Trask, 19 of Brewer; Courtney Braley, 19 of Bangor; and a 16-year-old juvenile from Bangor.

Cushman and Cressey remain at Penobscot County Jail. The juvenile was taken to the Mountain View Juvenile Detention Center in Charleston. Trask and Braley have been released on bail.

Morton says the investigation was a joint effort between Brewer and Veazie police, along with the Penobscot County Sheriff’s office.
