Here's your chance to beautify Bangor with your green thumb!

2015 will be the second year of "Adopt A Garden" in Bangor!  The Downtown Bangor Partnership will begin it's "adoption" process this Friday!  There are 70 different spaces to choose from within the Downtown District, up from 60 last year.

Community members, organizations, and businesses are invited to choose a space downtown and to design, plant, and maintain a garden. All volunteers will be responsible for purchasing their own seeds, plants, and flowers, and then maintaining your area throughout the warm months of the year.

Even if you cannot commit to maintaining a garden you can still donate to help the cause!

To sign up for a garden space or to make a donation, please email downtown@bangormaine.gov, call (207) 992-4234 or visit https://www.facebook.com/BangorAdoptAGarden.

The Downtown Bangor Partnership will kick off the growing season with a "Big Dig Day" on Saturday, May 9th, which should be a lot of fun as all "garden adopters" are encouraged to get started and work on their gardens!

The Bangor Lowes store has donated over 2000 packets of seeds for the effort.  The seeds are now growing at different schools and community organizations and will eventually be given to the volunteers for their adopted gardens.

Further information may be obtained about Bangor's Adopt A Garden from Caitlin Brooke, Downtown Coordinator, (207) 992-4200 or downtown@bangormaine.gov

So, choose a space, and let's make Bangor beautiful!
