Earlier this year, we learned that Aerosmith decided to put off plans to tour the U.S. in order to spend more time in the studio. In a new interview, guitarist Brad Whitford said that the band recently began tracking a new song while in London during their European tour.

"This song is a musical idea of Joe Perry's," he told Billboard Argentina. "We're doing it very much like we did songs back when we started out. It's very rock 'n roll."

But even though Perry said that they "definitely have another record in us, if not two," Whitford isn't sure how this new track, and others that may be recorded at a later date, will find its way to the public. "You know, you don't have to record a whole CD anymore," he continued. "So, hopefully, we can put out this one song or two or three," later saying "The music business has changed so much since we started. You have to do things really differently, We could just release one song and make it available for download."

Whitford had never been fully convinced that Aerosmith were getting ready to retire, a notion that was first posited by Steven Tyler last year and given more credibility by their decision to name their European dates the Aero-Vederci Tour. But although the new music shows that they're not ready to give up, Whitford nonetheless admitted that he does see an end in sight, even if he's not really sure when that will be.

"Hopefully, there's five more years," he said. "If not longer. We're going to keep playing until we can't play anymore."
