Duff McKagan, Lars Ulrich + More Appear in Alice In Chains Promotional Video

One of the knocks on the grunge scene of the 1990s was that its musicians took themselves way too seriously. However, Seattle’s Alice in Chains, one of the defining bands of the genre, are looking to refute that charge thanks to a new video promoting their upcoming release, ‘The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here,’ which features a handful of classic rockers appearing as themselves.

The 11-minute video, titled ‘AIC 23,’ can be found at Funny or Die (as well as embedded above). It takes the form of a mockumentary in which “Alan Poole McLard,” a film studies professor, decides to make a film about his favorite band. In his attempt to tell the story of Alice in Chains, he encounters, among others, a hipster a Norwegian death metal musician (whose name references a Def Leppard classic).

Apart from an angry phone call from guitarist Jerry Cantrell, McLard’s attempts to contact the band directly are futile. But he does get some quotes from some of the other big names to have come from Seattle, including Heart, Duff McKagan, Kim Thayil of Soundgarden, Pearl Jam‘s Mike McCready, Lars Ulrich and Robert Trujillo from Metallica also appear as themselves.

‘The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here’ will be released on May 28.
