A sudden surge of income will soon happen for Maine state government.

Beginning in April, Amazon.com will start collecting a 5.5% sales tax on items shipped to Maine residents.

It's been awhile in the making, and according to the AP, the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development says that this will "level the playing field" between local Maine businesses and the online giant.

Other states that will begin paying the price this April include Idaho, New Mexico and Hawaii.

Maine has always charged a "Use tax" on Maine state tax forms for out of state purchases online.  What will happen with this line on the 2017 forms, if anything?
