Fireworks?  There goes the cat under the oil tank again.

Hey, this family fun event is always a good time!

The annual Ellsworth Winter Carnival happens this Saturday, February 9th, and according to Mother Nature, it's going to be a good day for it!  Ellsworth may get a couple of inches of snow throughout Friday night, and any precipitation should be all over an done with by sometime Saturday morning when temps should be around 32 degrees.

So, make sure you register beginning at 9 a.m. for the 12th Annual Cardboard Sled Races at the Woodlawn Museum just off the Surry Road, the sledding will start at 10!   While there take a snowmobile ride over the fabulous trail system at Woodlawn!  Snowmobile and driver will be provided.

Also, as part of the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend, the Woodlawn trails will be open for snowshoeing between 8 a.m. and 12 noon.  There's a limited amount of snowshoes available FREE OF CHARGE, so get there early!

Meanwhile, all sorts of fun stuff will be happening between 12 noon and 2 p.m. at the Ellsworth Ice Rink at Knowlton Park, including "human bowling", yeah, and you thought that you'd seen everything, a snow sculpture contest, and of course ice skating!

Every year a GREAT fireworks display happens as part of the Winter Carnival, and this year will be no different when it all takes place at Ellsworth High School beginning at 6 p.m.  There's plenty of parking across Outer State Street including in front of and behind the Mill Mall, or in the parking lot of the Ellsworth Elementary/Middle School.
