What's it this time? A grandchild overseas who needs $?  Nope.  Your computer has a virus!  Nope.  Outstanding parking tickets?  Yup.

According to the Maine Judicial Branch website, folks here in the state are receiving calls that show up on their caller ID as coming from a courthouse.  The caller says that you either have outstanding parking tickets or unpaid fines for traffic violations, and then asks for personal information such as a social security number, a credit card number, or your birth date.  Of course all these things could help in stealing your identity and then ripping you off.

No one within the Maine Judicial Branch would ever call and ask you for this information.  Your best bet is to hang up immediately.

More information on how to avoid "spoofing" and what to do during these calls can be found HERE.
