The list of April 2017 New Music Releases features loads of fresh material by signature classic-rock legends, as well as another wallet-emptying edition of Record Store Day.

Deep Purple's 20th studio album leads the charge this month. Produced by Bob Ezrin, who's worked with Alice Cooper and Pink FloydinFinite arrives in advance of a lengthy new tour beginning in Bucharest on May 13. Elsewhere, Record Store Day looks to include intriguing releases from both David Bowie and Paul McCartney, among many, many others.

Kinks frontman Ray Davies collaborated with members of the Jayhawks on Americana, his first new studio effort in nearly a decade. Meanwhile, John Mellencamp's 23rd album, Sad Clowns and Hillbillies, prominently features regular touring mate Carlene Carter.

Mike and the Mechanics' Let Me Fly marks the eighth LP by Genesis co-founder Mike Rutherford's other hitmaking band. Queen guitarist Brian May offers his second studio collaboration with singer Kerry Ellis. Golden Days follows 2010's Anthems and a series of joint live dates.

Infinite Tuesday: Autobiographical Riffs features a sampling of Michael Nesmith's solo work away from the Monkees, beginning with "The New Recruit" – his first-ever recording, made under the name Michael Blessing. Krokus' Big Rocks includes an assortment of cover songs from the likes of Black Sabbath, Queen and the Who.

More information on these and other classic rock releases can be found below. And remember to look at our updated list of 2017 New Music Releases for details on music issued throughout the year.
