Are We Due For A Big Earthquake In Maine? [MAP]

Are we in for a ground shaking experience in the future?

Over the years I’ve heard the house crack, I’ve seen water in a glass shake, and I’ve heard a freight train like sound roll across the land as an underwater quake happened off the coast of Bar Harbor.

But, will our state experience a signification earthquake in the next 50 years?   The folks at the U.S. Geological Survey have produced a National Seismic Hazard map just to make us a little more paranoid.  Luckily, Maine is not one of the “high risk” states. So, I guess we can all sleep well tonight!
