Dave Swanson is a writer and musician from Cleveland, Ohio. He has spent a lifetime obsessed with all things Rock & Roll.  Dave has written for a variety of publications including Shindig!, Bucketful Of Brains, The Cleveland Scene and The Cleveland Plain Dealer. He hosts his own radio show, has promoted concerts and played in several bands including, but not limited to, Rainy Day Saints, The Chamber Strings, The Cynics, New Salem Witch Hunters, Guided By Voices, Death Of Samantha, and Captain Groovy & His Bubblegum Army.   Favorite bands-Cheap Trick, The Monkees, Sparks, Motorhead, Beach Boys, Rockpile, XTC,Van Der Graaf Generator, Sweet, Bob Dylan,etc. Favortie color- paisley. Sign-Scorpio. Favorite Movies-Love And Death, Don't Look Back & Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls.  Political party-Mod & Rocker. Religion-Rock & Roll. His biggest regret is having no regrets. If not playing, writing, reading about, listening to, or discussing music, he is most likely dead.

35 Years Ago: Grace Slick Quits Jefferson Starship After Drunken Germany Show

By the middle of 1978, Jefferson Airplane had upgraded to Starship and were in the process of running out of fuel. The band (including singer Grace Slick) was on tour in Europe to promote the recently released 'Earth' album when a stop in Germany deteriorated into a confusing mess. "She'd always had a thing about Germany," wrote Jeff Tamarkin in the band bio 'Got a Revolution!' "All things Deutsche brought out the worst in her."

40 Years Ago: Paul Simon Launches First Solo Tour

On May 6, 1973  in Boston, Paul Simon kicked off his first tour as a solo artist. He and longtime partner in musical splendor Art Garfunkel parted ways in 1970 following a highly successful run as pop's premier duo. The Simon & Garfunkel musical relationship dated back to 1957 as Tom & Jerry, but it wasn't until the 1965 single of 'The Sounds Of Silence' that the gates swung open. Their final album, 'Bridge Over Troubled Water,' was released in early 1970, and despite its huge success, time had frayed the duo and they split.

From the band's earliest days Young had issues to deal with, including the onset of epilepsy, constant drug use, and apprehension about the band management and the music business in general.
