Agricultural Entrepreneurs Honored Today in Augusta

The 73rd Annual Maine Agricultural Trades Show is underway in Augusta and you can check it out for free, through Thursday.


The show was kicked off earlier today with the recognition of notable contributions to Maine agriculture, by Governor Paul LePage and the Commissioner of the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, Walter Whitcomb.


A couple from Freeport, Maine was presented the 2014 Commissioner’s Distinguished Service Award.

Shelters Open in Wake of Ice Storm [Updated 6:25pm ]

The skies have cleared for the most part today leaving only the cleanup following a two-day ice storm that left some parts of Maine covered in an inch of ice.

As Mainers go about last minute preparations for Christmas, thousands have been plunged into darkness as the state's utility companies announce this morning as many as 100,000 customers were in the dark as of 5AM.

Bangor Police ID Victim in Saturday Night’s Fatal

Police say the person found dead in a Bangor supermarket parking lot over the weekend appears to have been struck by a vehicle elsewhere in the city and dragged.

Officers were called to the Hannaford store on Union Street at about 8 p.m. Saturday for the report of a person struck by a car.

‘Tis the Season for Christmas Parties and OUI

Just in time for Christmas and New Year parties, police are stepping up their patrols looking for drunk or impaired drivers, but this enforcement will last well into next year.

Bangor Police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey says a 10-thousand dollar grant from the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety will allow Bangor police to designate specific law enforcement efforts toward sobriety check points.
