Local Business Destroyed by Fire

Fire investigators are sifting through the hot spots and rubble this morning trying to determine what sparked a massive blaze last night in Hancock County.

The fire call came in to Hancock County Regional Dispatch around 7:45 last night and fire crews were dispatched to Harbor Drive in Bass Harbor.

A Convoy Full of Christmas and Respect for Veterans Gets Ready to Roll

The goosebumps I get have nothing to do at all with the chilly Maine temperatures this time of year and every thing to do with the home-grown spirit of Christmas, and the sense of patriotism and commitment to our U.S. servicemen and women.

And so it begins this weekend in Washington County with the laying of wreaths on both sides of the U.S. border Saturday in Calais by the Gold Star Mothers and their Canadian counterparts, Silver Cross Families.

New Protection for State Police Officers

Some of Maine's state police force is now better protected thanks to a non profit organization.

Police Need Help Locating Missing Man

The Penobscot County Sheriff's Department is asking for help from the public in locating an elderly man who hasn't been heard from since yesterday.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department says 68 year Bernard Santerre of Corinth got disoriented while driving on Route 15 in Piscataquis County yesterday afternoon.

Bangor Bomb Threat Investigated

The normal Wednesday evening routine was interrupted in Downtown Bangor after a person called the police department just after 7pm saying there was a bomb in Pickering Square.

In order to establish a safe perimeter while they investigated the report police shut down Broad and Water Streets and Nocturnem Draft Haus, The New Waverly, and the 4:20 Shop.

Maine Evergreen Boughs in High Demand

'Tis the season and that means Mainers looking to make some money are out in the woods harvesting Balsam Fir boughs.

The process is called tipping, and Maine landowners are generous enough to give tippers written permission to harvest the evergreen off their property.

But, when someone doesn't get that permission in writing, that's when the Maine Forest Service steps in to enforce Maine's timberland laws.
