Folks in Bangor can enjoy some wonderful music tonight on the Waterfront with the Bangor Band. Bring your lawn chair and relax with some of the best musicians in the area!

The Bangor band is one of the oldest, continuous community bands in the United States. Founded in 1859, this is the group's 154th consecutive season. The group of dedicated volunteer musicians perform each Tuesday night at 7pm at various venues throughout the Greater Bangor area.

I haven't had a chance to check out a performance yet this year, but plan to soon. The conductor this year is Professor Curvin "Chip" Farnham, who was my director in the Brewer High School band! Mr. Farnham is just the best there is as far as I'm concerned. He left Brewer High School many (never mind HOW many!) years ago to teach at the University of Maine. He is a Professor of Music at the University and was Conductor of Bands for 24 years and conducted the University's Symphonic Band.

Tonight's performance will be held on the Bangor Waterfront, between the Sea Dog and the Waterfront Pavilion at 7pm. If it should rain, the performance will be moved to Peake's Auditorium at Bangor High School. For more information on other performances this summer, check out the Bangor Band's website.

Grab your lawn chair and maybe a couple snacks and settle in for an amazing evening of wonderful music with the Bangor Band!
