The Bangor Drive-In on Outer Hammond Street/Route 2 in Hermon is being totally refurbished by Cinema Bangor LLC, the same company that operates the Bangor Mall Cinemas!

Both movie screens are being repaired, it will feature state-of-the-art digital projection and FM radio sound.  New rest rooms are being built, and so is a brand new concession stand that will feature pizza, hamburgers, fries and everything else that goes along with a great movie experience!

In a press release, Carol Epstein of Cinema Bangor LLC said, "We look forward to offering the next generation of movie goers this classic experience.”

The Bangor Drive-In  opened back in 1950, and closed in 1985. The target re-opening date is July 1, 2015.  We wish them the BEST!

Meanwhile, we all have those wonderful drive-in memories!  Sneaking our friends in by loading two or three into the trunk of a car.  Missing most of the movie with a girlfriend in the back seat.

The last movie that was shown on the big screen at the Drive-In was Rambo: First Blood Part 2.

I remember seeing Ghostbusters there back in 1984.

What was the last movie that you saw at the old Bangor Drive-In?
