Bangor native Emily Kagan steps into the UFC octagon tonight for fight night in Las Vegas. The card is part of the three night event that culminates with UFC 194 on Saturday.

This will be Kagan's second UFC fight which comes after a long lay-off with her last match coming almost a year ago to the day. Her opponent is 24 year old Kailin Curran form Hawaii and comes into the fight with a record of 3-2.

Kagan is hoping to ride the wave of momentum created by her teammate Holly Holm who beat the undefeated Rhonda Rousey last month. The two train together in New Mexico and Kagan said Holm's victory is serving as motivation for tonight's fight. Like Curran, she also has a professional record of 3-2 and is trying to move her way up the ranks of UFC.

Two years ago Kagan was a competitor in The Ultimate Fighter, a television show produced by UFC that doubles as a vehicle that develops new fighters.
