Courtesy Bangor Police Department

Bangor Police said Friday they have recovered a cache of jewelry stolen during a recent spate of burglaries in the city.

Most of the burglaries occurred with the homeowners present, according to a news release from the Bangor Police Department. Detective Brian Smith said the suspect has been arrested on unrelated charges, but charges related to the burglaries are pending.

The suspect is currently in Penobscot County Jail. Police expect to release a name as soon as formal charges are filed.

Police warn people to lock their doors even when they are there, and especially at night. They also suggest photographing expensive items such as jewelry to make it easier to identify if it is ever stolen.
