The old copper roof from the Bangor Public Library is up for auction. The ornate pieces, of all sizes, will be auctioned off at the library next Tuesday evening, as a way to help pay for the new roof.

Lisa Frazell says there will be several opportunities to purchase a piece of history.

"We've got a silent auction happening from 5 to 6 and that has some of the smaller pieces of copper, as well as some of the jewelry made from the copper from Maine Jewelry and Art."

A live auction will follow with some of the larger pieces up for bid, along with more of the jewelry. There will also be old glass tiles from the library floor up for bid. All the money raised will help to pay for the library's new roof.

If you miss the auction, you can still purchase some of the jewelry at Maine Jewelry and Art on Harlow Street. Lisa Frazell says the pieces are really beautiful!

There will be refreshments and the band Sentimental Journey will provide music. The auction gets underway at 5pm on Tuesday, January 21st on the third floor of the library. For more information, log onto the Bangor Public Library’s website.
