Birch Point Beach State Park A Hidden Gem [VIDEO]
Looking for a nice beach to visit during these waning days of summer? We've found one for you!
Birch Point Beach State Park is a beautiful area to set up a picnic, take in a few rays, and have a swim!
The Park's on the Birch Point Beach Road, off Route 73 south of Owl's Head, about 68 miles from Bangor, and well worth the drive. It's open 9 a.m. till sunset and has a real nice parking area just feet from the beach. Admission during season is $3, during the off-season visitors can park outside of the gate and just walk in.
When you walk from the parking lot out to the beach you'll see a stretch of islands about a mile or two from shore, and beyond them the open Atlantic. Picnic tables are spread throughout the woods to the left beside a cropping of rocks that are perfect to climb on and watch the beach-goers on the sandy crescent shaped beach.
