Boston mobster James “Whitey” Bulger was sentenced to life in prison this morning in a Boston courtroom.  The gangster was convicted of 11 murders, extortion and money laundering.

The 84 year old Bulger was sentenced to two consecutive life terms, plus five years, which guarantees that he will never see the light of day again.

For years Bulger spread fear in the Boston area before becoming a fugitive and then hiding out for 16 years.  He was captured in Santa Monica, California in 2011.
