Bowdoin’s Buddha Books It!

Someone has ripped off the “Laughing Buddha” statue from the lawn at Bowdoin College in Brunswick.  Brunswick cops are asking your help in locating the granite statue of an Asian fisherman once holding an oak leaf in one hand and a fish in the other.

The pudgy Buddha weighs about 200 pounds and stands about two and a half feet high.  It was donated to the school back in 1935, so he’s been around for awhile.

If you stumble across the Laughing Buddha, maybe in someone’s “man cave”, or maybe even anchoring a boat somewhere, you can call Brunswick police Captain Mark Waltz at 725-6670, extension 103.
