The City of Brewer is once again hosting a day of fun events to help break the cabin fever blues. Winterfest is an annual event that offers a variety of activities, including what's believed to be Maine's only winter fireworks display!

The fun gets underway at 7am at the Brewer Auditorium with a new twist on the Kiwanis breakfast. Traditionally, pancakes would be on the menu, but this year organizers decided to shake things up with a French Toast breakfast. Yum! The menu includes coffee, juice, milk, and french toast. Second helpings are encouraged. And all the money raised will stay local for community projects and donations. Cost for the breakfast is $5 for adults, $3 for children, kids under 3 years of age eat for free!

Then, from 10 to 2, there will be lots of fun activities for children in and around the Brewer Auditorium. A bounce house, cookie decorating, games, and prizes will keep kids laughing all day. Plus there will be some outdoor activities, including Disc Golf, sledding, and ice skating! (so remember the sled and skates from home)

From 4:30 to 6pm, everyone's invited to gather around a bonfire at the Vacationland Inn on Wilson Street. It will be a fun and tasty event with free Tim Horton's hot chocolate and s'mores!

The day's festivities will wrap up with fireworks at 6pm. It's believed that this is your only chance to see fireworks in winter in Maine so don't miss them! They're set to launch at 6pm.

All the events, except the breakfast, are free, but everyone's encouraged to bring non-perishable food items. They'll be donated to the Brewer Food Cupboard. Donation boxes will be set up at Brewer Winterfest events! Shake off that cabin fever and have some fun this weekend in my hometown of Brewer!
