A Brewer man faces charges after allegedly sexually abusing a young girl, according to police.

Ronald Boersma, 37, is charged with unlawful sexual contact with a minor. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail.

Boersma was arrested Thursday afternoon at his home a day after police seized a computer from the residence. Investigators say they found child pornography on his computer, but plan to do further analysis before lodging additional charges. It also is not known if any images of his victim were also on his computer.

Boersma is employed at a local bakery and is a convicted sex offender. He also was convicted of possessing child pornography in 2003 during court martial proceedings while serving in the Navy out of state.
