There's big goings on in Brownville this Saturday!  It's the Dog Days Of Winter along with the 6th Annual Brownville KI and Beyond Sled Dog Race!

Mushers from as far away as Maryland will race their dogs in the Sled Dog Race which begins at 10AM at the head of Railroad Avenue.  Bring the kids out to see the spectacle!  Remember to ask permission from the owners before attempting to pet a dog please. The race is organized by the Maine Highlands Sled Dog Club.

There are two course runs for the race, both a 30 and a 20 mile run.  Both runs will be on the back trails that run along the west branch of the Pleasant River to the Katahdin Iron Works. The Brownville Snowmobile Club has been maintaining the trails and even with all the snow this week the race is on!

The Dogs Days Of Winter runs throughout the day in conjunction with the races and there's plenty of fun stuff to do!  Arts and crafts, Turkey Bowling (don't worry the turkeys are frozen), snow art, sledding and a Scavenger Hunt.

A public dinner and the Musher awards will round out the day's events between 3 and 5pm at the Brownville United Methodist Church. Admission by donation.
