Well summer may be waning and school in session but it isn’t too late to have a bit of fun this weekend at the Camden Windjammer Festival.  The festival officially starts on Friday with the arrival of the Windjammer fleet into the Camden Harbor but that is truly the tip of the iceberg.

Because no special weekend is complete without flapjacks, on Saturday morning the festivities kick into gear with a pancake breakfast.

From there you can taking in all the expertise of boat building, watch them take a dip attempting to complete the lobster crate race course, enjoy a nautical themed dog agility competition, not to be outdone by the kids trying to run while holding onto a slippery mackerel and after all that  partake in the scrumptious chowder challenge.

There will also be kayak tours, enjoy a schooner open house. Then on Sunday spectators will enjoy the Maine Sport Triathlon, radio controlled boat race, treasure hunt, lobster hauling demonstrations and wrapped up by a boat parade.

Add to that like music during most of this event and you have a fun filled weekend courtesy of the Camden Windjammer Festival
