Now when I was a kid on Halloween we mostly got popcorn balls and apples with only the occasional chocolate candy bar, in which case I did the little happy cat dance and threatened death to anyone who touched it. So I guess my desire for chocolate on Halloween started early.

Just other day I picked up a few big mixed bags of Halloween Candy. My family likes to get together and see all the little ones and not so little one in costume. Folks out in the country can't imagine but where I live there have been years we've see over 100 kids. So needless to say, I want to get something that will go over well with the little devils or princesses or minions most likely. So did I pick well? Here is the skinny I found on candy. Just like when I was a kid chocolate is the big business, and turns out Halloween is its biggest holiday, take that Valentine's Day! According to a recent survey from the National Confectioners Association, 72% of all candy spending this Halloween will be on chocolate.

This is America's favorite Halloween candy:

  1. Reese's
  2. M&M's
  3. Snickers
  4. Hershey's
  5. Kit Kat

I confess although I got plenty of chocolate I got some suckers and chewy things too. I personally have found that really little kids love lollipops particularly one shaped like Halloween thing like pumpkins. Just sayin'
