A Caribou man and his four passengers were injured when their vehicle left U.S. Route 1 in Monticello in an attempt to avoid a collision with a moose.

Nathan Corbin, 25, was operating his friend's 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix at about 1:30 a.m. when he swerved to avoid hitting a moose, according to police. The vehicle crashed into some trees.

All of the passengers were seen by staff at Houlton Regional Hospital for minor injuries.

Corbin was operating on a suspended license at the time of the crash, according to police.
