Farms Where You Can Cut a Christmas Tree Near Bangor
Finding the perfect Christmas tree is an art form. It can't be too big (or too small) to fit precisely in the spot we have reserved for it in our living rooms.
For some, hunting for the right tree involves more than a good eye for its shape or color. It involves a saw and dirty knees.
So, for those who prefer to get on their knees and hack away to bag their tree (and of course yell "timber" when it falls), we've compiled this alpahbetical list of fams near Bangor where you can cut your own.
Because we want to make the hunt as simple as possible, clicking below on the farm's name will take you to their website, and clicking on their address will give you a map on how to get there. Happy hunting!
Carpenter Tree Farm is only 15 minutes north of Bangor and is open on weekends. The family-run farm will even lend you a saw to cut your tree and a sled to bring it back to the store. It's about $40 to cut your own tree, and they'll put it in a net for you so it's easier to transport home. Before you go, though, make sure to grab some cider. Sometimes, finding the perfect tree can take a while (especially with so many to choose from), and it's getting pretty chilly out there.
Okay, we know we said we'd have five farms in this list, but we couldn't forget Finestkind Tree Farms. It's also about 45 minutes away from Bangor. It's that place you drive by on Route 15 just before Dover-Foxcroft with the beautiful rolling hills lined with trees. They're open seven days a week from 8 a.m.to 5 p.m. Prices vary depending on the size and grade of the tree.
King's Mountain Christmas Trees is only about 15 mintues from Bangor, and is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to dark. If you want a fresh-cut tree but don't want to cut it yourself, the staff will be happy to do to it for you. If you do want to cut it yourself, they'll lend you a saw. They'll also net the tree for you at no charge and help you tie it on your car. (That might come in handy if you've ever watched your Chirstmas tree fly off the top of you car and end up in the middle of the highway.)
Nutkin Knoll Farm is a small family owned farm just 20 minutes west of Bangor between Route 9 and the Kennebec Road in Newburgh. Hot cider and ginger snaps await those who want to choose and cut their Christmas trees at Nutkin Knoll, which is celebrating its 10th year. They have thousands of Fraser and Balsam fir trees at the farm and they'll even ship a tree for you. They also have wreaths and maple syrup in the store.
Piper Mountain is just about 30 minutes west of Bangor. Besides its vast groves of Balsam fir trees, it also features a large gift shop and horse-drawn wagon rides! They also have some Fraser Firs and Scotts Pine if you're looking for a different look and feel for your tree. All cut-your-own trees (over 4-feet) are $35 plus tax, and the farm is reporting that it has a lots of trees between 6-feet and 7-feet. Pre-cut trees vary in price.
The 2018 season marks the first time Treworgy's is offering cut-your-own trees. Hours: Friday, Nov 23 10-4, Saturday 10-4, Sunday 12-4.
They give you a saw and sled, you do the rest! But your hard work and tree selection will be rewarded here with cookies and more!
