This past Sunday night and into Monday morning, Maine State Police responded to at least 20 calls involving broken windshields on I-295 and the Maine Turnpike.

So, here's a reminder to do us all a favor and clean off your vehicle after any sort of snowfall, especially one involving freezing rain and ice!

When a chuck of ice falls off of a vehicle traveling in front of you at 60 MPH, well, it's going to hit your car at about.....60 MPH.  Boom!  All of a sudden there's frustration, anxiety, a call to your insurance company, and an appointment with the windshield replacement folks.  It turns into a whole thing, one that no one wants to deal with.

Not to mention that you may end up hurting someone badly.  Luckily, no one was injured during this last storm due to flying ice chunks which damaged windshields and front end grills.

So, take a few moments like I did yesterday and clean all the snow off of your ride!  Someone will thank you for it!
