The cost of using a hair dryer is going up!

Beginning today, Friday, July 1st, customers of Central Maine Power will see a increase in the "delivery" portion of their bill, which will average out to a 7% increase overall for a typical residential consumer.

According to an article in the Portland Press Herald, that would add another $3.12 to the average bill of $78.47. The rate increase was approved in early June by the Maine Public Utilities Commission.

Industrial and commercial business customers will see much bigger increases.

Central Maine customers are located from Bucksport to the far southern and western areas of the state.  CMP has over 548,000 residential customers.
