Nothing is worse in winter then having or wanting to be outside and not having proper gear to keep you warm.  And since we all want the kids to get outside 'Coats for Kids' makes helping out easy..

WLBZ has been in league with the Salvation Army for 36 years now offering a convenient way for neighbors to help neighbors.

There are many locations for folks to drop off new or gently used coats and as for the past few years unwrapped new toys.  You’ll find boxes in Bangor at Shaw's on Main Street and in Newport at Hannaford on the Moosehead Trail. WLBZ reports that all the donated coats are brought to Pratt Abbott cleaners where they are cleaned, stored, then distributed by the Salvation Army along with the toys.

You can drop off coats through Monday December 31st and toys can be brought in until December 15th. Their biggest push will be this Saturday and they will be broadcasting from several different locations.  To see all the donation stores click here.
