One of Maine's biggest and most interesting fairs will begin soon, and if you truly care about Mother Earth then you really should attend! The 40th annual Common Ground Country Fair put on by the Maine Organic Farmers And Gardeners Association will run September 23rd through the 25th! Here you can learn and observe ways about how to grow things, make things and take care of things!  Check out folk art, learn about composting and recycling, buy locally grown food in the huge farmer's market, watch various agricultural demonstrations, learn about home grown energy options, farming tips and ideas, and taste the foods that Maine has to offer! The Common Ground Country Fair always happens the third weekend after Labor Day, and is attended by close to 60,000 folks that come from all across New England each year. The Fair is located on the fairgrounds in Unity, about a 45 minute drive from Bangor. There's various ways to get there, you can even ride the train! The gates open at 9 a.m. each day, and adult tickets are $15 dollars at the gate.  Those over 65 are charged $10 while those under 12 get in free.  Save some bucks by buying your tickets ahead of time HERE!  Advance tickets at a discount are also available at local area businesses, for a full list go HERE!  Free admission for members of MOFGA.
