One of the biggest fairs in the state happens this weekend!

The Common Ground Country Fair, put on by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association takes place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the fairgrounds in Unity!

There aren't any games or rides there, unless you count jumping on a cardboard box and sliding downhill, but there will be plenty of attractions for those who love living off the earth. Celebrating the rural and agricultural traditions of Maine, you'll see agricultural displays and demonstrations, information on renewable energy and products, a fabulous farmer's market with vegetables and other products grown right here in Maine, cooking demonstrations, plenty of Maine made crafts, entertainment by Maine musicians and a whole bunch of livestock!

Make sure that you check out the popular sheep dog demonstrations!

The gates open at 9AM all three days, with most stuff shutting down by 6PM on Friday and then 5PM on both Saturday and Sunday.  Members of the MOFGA are admitted free.  The cost for adults is $15 at the gate, and $10 those over 64, kids under 12 are admitted free.

There's free parking on the fairgrounds, or you could take the Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad directly to the fair for a very small fee!
