“MAS Home Care of Maine is organizing the second annual “Stockings for Seniors” this year, to bring some holiday cheer to local seniors in the Bangor area. Last year they delivered gifts to over 175 seniors in Maine and New Hampshire.  Unwrapped donations can be dropped off at MAS Home Care of Maine, 360 Harlow Street, Bangor, ME by Friday, December 14th – or call Heather or Chip at 207-561-9533 to arrange a pick up. Please help MAS Home Care give back to those who have given so much to the community for many years.”

The Brewer Parks and Recreation Department will hold Zumba classes from November 27th through December 20th, from 5:30 until 6:30pm on both Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Brewer Auditorium.  FMI:  989-5199

It’s the Bloomfield Annual Holiday Craft Fair at the Bloomfield Elementary School at 140 Academy Circle in Skowhegan on Saturday, December 1st from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.  Come and see over 20 craft vendors from around Maine.  Skowhegan Nursery School will be our food vendor, selling hot and cold drinks and food items. Holiday musical entertainment will be provided by the students of Bloomfield Elementary School, Bloomfield Middle School and Skowhegan High School from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. This event is free!

The General Henry Knox Museum presents its annual Holiday Open House on Sat., Dec. 1 and Sun., Dec. 2 from 1 to 4 pm at Montpelier, 30 High Street, in Thomaston. Stroll through 12 beautifully decorated rooms – including for the first time ever – the General’s Bedroom – while enjoying live holiday music and complimentary refreshments. Pick up some yummy bake sale treats and special gifts in the museum shop. Admission is free and all are invited to attend. Canned goods will be accepted at the door for the Thomaston food pantry. At the Cherryfield Academy Community Center on Main Street in Cherryfield there will be a “Christmas Exhibit” on Thursday and Friday, December 6 and 7th from  6 until 8 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday Dec. 8 & 9, 2 - 4 p.m. & 6 - 8 p.m.  The Academy building will be turned into a Christmas and Winter Wonderland.  If you would like to loan a display, please call Cheryl at 812-1880. Displays can include dollhouses, nativity scenes, villages, angels, gingerbread houses, nesting dolls, trains etc. No admission but donations will be appreciated.

On Friday December 7th it’s the First First Friday Coffeehouse at the Northeast Harbor Library. From 7 until 8 PM.  It features an Open Mic Session, with Blue Gene, MC.  All performing artists are welcome to perform between 8 and 9pm. Free of charge. Refreshments for sale throughout. Donations welcome.

Friends and family of Orrington Fire Survivor Christine Johnson are hosting a fundraiser in her honor on Sunday December 9th, from 1 until 7pm at the Family Fun Lanes Bowling Center on Hildreth St. in Bangor.  Cost is $10 to bowl three games, shoes included.  You can also contribute to the Johnson Family Fund, in care of Seaboard Federal Credit Union, PO Box G, Bucksport, ME  04416

Women, Work, and Community will offer The Basics of Starting a Business on Tuesdays December 4th and 11th from 9:00 to 1:00 at the UMA-Bangor Campus in Bangor Hall. The class covers the basics of a business plan, marketing, and cash flow planning.
