Commencements this weekend are as listed:
University of Maine, Orono
ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine’s 211th Commencement will be held at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, in Harold Alfond Sports Arena.
University of Southern Maine
GORHAM, Maine — Commencement 2013 will be held in two ceremonies on the Gorham Campus in the Costello Field House on Saturday, May 11.
University of Maine, Augusta
AUGUSTA, Maine — The University of Maine at Augusta’s 45th commencement will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at Augusta Civic Center. More than 600 graduates from the Augusta and Bangor campuses, online program and University College Centers will receive associate and baccalaureate degrees.
University of Maine at Presque Isle
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host its 104th commencement ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11, in Wieden Gymnasium.
University of Maine at Machias
MACHIAS, Maine — The University of Maine at Machias will celebrate its 102nd commencement ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Frederic A. Reynolds Center.
The ceremony will be streamed live online at www.machias.edu/umm-live.
Husson University, Bangor
BANGOR, Maine — Husson University will hold its 114th commencement in two parts: at 10:30 a.m., including the school’s first class of Doctor of Pharmacy graduates, on Saturday, May 11, in the Winkin Athletic Complex; and at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, at Woodfords Congregational Church in Portland.
Thomas College, Waterville
WATERVILLE, Maine — Thomas College’s 119th commencement will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at Harold Alfond Athletic Center at Thomas College.
University of Maine at Farmington
FARMINGTON, Maine — The 2013 University of Maine at Farmington commencement will take place outdoors at 10:30 a.m. behind the Einar A. Olsen Student Center.
In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center.
Bowdoin College
BRUNSWICK, Maine — Bowdoin College will host its 208th commencement outside at 10 a.m. on the Terrace of the Walker Art Building. No tickets are required and students may invite as many guests as they wish.
Maine Community Colleges
AUGUSTA, Maine — Nearly 2,900 college students are expected to graduate from Maine’s seven community colleges at commencement exercises around the state this month. The graduates join more than 20,600 others who have earned their degrees at a Maine community college since 2003.
Speakers at this year’s commencement exercises, as well as the times, dates and locations, are as follows:
• Central Maine Community College, Auburn, 582 graduates, 6 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at Androscoggin Bank Colisee, Lewiston, with guest speaker, Ronald Lebel, shareholder and director of Skelton, Taintor and Abbott law firm.
• Washington County Community College, Calais, 126 graduates, 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, at Calais High School, with guest speaker retired Maj. Gen. Peter T. Berry, U.S. Army.
• Eastern Maine Community College, Bangor, 365 graduates, 9 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at Bangor Auditorium, with guest speaker Gary Allen, founder and co-director of the Great Cranberry Island Marathon and Mount Desert Island Marathon.
• Kennebec Valley Community College, Fairfield, 522 graduates, 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Augusta Civic Center, with guest speaker Lawrence A. Wold, president, TD Bank Maine.
• Northern Maine Community College, Presque Isle, 235 graduates, 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at The Forum, with guest speaker U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud, Maine’s 2nd District.
• Southern Maine Community College, South Portland, 826 graduates, 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at SMCC South Portland campus athletic field, weather permitting, with guest speaker F. Lee Bailey.
• York County Community College, Wells, 234 graduates, 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Ogunquit Playhouse, with guest speaker Michael A. Papp, general manager of North Berwick Parts Center, Pratt and Whitney.
University of Maine at Fort Kent
FORT KENT, Maine — The University of Maine at Fort Kent will hold its 131st commencement at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at UMFK’s Sports Center.
Unity College
UNITY, Maine — Unity College will hold its 44th commencement at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Tozier Gymnasium on the campus of Unity College, 90 Quaker Hill Road.
Colby College, Waterville
WATERVILLE, Maine — Colby College will hold its bicentennial-year commencement at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 26, on the Miller Library lawn.
In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in Wadsworth Gymnasium, for which tickets will be required for entrance. The ceremony also will be live-streamed in the field house.
