The home of Waterfront Concert's could look different soon.

City of Bangor officials are seeking consultants to help make the venue a long-term destination. Achieving this requires a more permanent facility. A request for qualifications was issued by the city to engineering or architectural firms that specialize in the designing outdoor concert facilities.

The Waterfront venue currently has no permanent structures, but could use them. Things like lighting, concessions, backstage comforts and fencing are all priorities. I vote for real bathrooms...

With the help of interested consultants the city could also explore options of a roof or awning. Covering the stage and part of the seating could help better contain the sound.

Sound complaints have dissipated since the over 120 fielded from May's Rise Above Fest. The Dave Matthews Band and Brad Paisley shows tallied up five sound complaints total.

Bench or stadium seating expanded towards the hill and the railroad tracks is another idea. It would add more seating to the venue that has a capacity of over 15,000 attendees.
