Police say speed and alcohol were factors in a crash Sunday night in Cornville that left one man dead.

Centralmaine.com reports the accident happened on Shadagee Road just before 9 p.m. Sunday. A vehicle driven by 54-year-old Stanley Johnson hit a guardrail as it was approaching the intersection with Molunkus and Rowell Mountain Roads. The pickup truck went into a ditch and rolled several times before coming to rest on the side of Rowell Mountain Road.

Johnson was thrown from the pickup and pronounced dead at the scene. The accident was reported by a passing motorist and is still under investigation.
