It was on this date in 1972 that Paul and Linda McCartney were arrested in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The two had been found in possession of marijuana.  It probably didn't help that the entire band of long - hairs was riding around Europe on their first ever tour in a double-decker English bus that was covered with psychedelic drawings.   Following the bust, Paul McCartney joked that the bust would be "good publicity for the tour."  Although, the arrest would hinder the band's ever tour when it came time to obtain visas to get into other countries.

Elton John set a record in 1976 when his series of ten sold out shows at Madison Square Garden brought in $1.25 million.  Elton immediately spent the cash on new clothes and more funky looking glasses.

Bryan Adams, the Canadian rocker, scored his first #1 album with Reckless on this date in 1985.  The album featured six singles: Run To You, Heaven, Summer of '69, It's Only Love (with Tina Turner), One Night Love Affair and Somebody.   Soon after, Adams would go "soft" according to a lot of rock fans with songs  like: Please Forgive Me and Everything I Do I Do For You.  Although chicks dug it.

In 2008, soul singer Issac Hayes was found dead in his Memphis, Tennessee, home.  He had been running on the treadmill when his wife found him unconscious.  His most popular song was the theme from the movie Shaft, (You see this cat Shaft is a bad mother
(Shut your mouth), which he won an Academy Award for.  Hayes had been married four times and had twelve children, with a load like that, it's a wonder he  made it to 66 years old.

The inventor of the Fender guitar was born on this date in 1909.  Clarence Leonidas 'Leo' Fender, produced one of rock's most iconic line of guitars made famous by the likes of Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck.

Back in the seventies, thousands of rock fans thought that Jethro Tull and Ian Anderson were the same guy.  No, they weren't. Ian Anderson is the fabulous vocalist and flute player that fronted the English band, Jethro Tull.  Today he turns 68 years old.  Yeah, he's really not that old, he's just always looked old, and like a hermit, like the photo on the cover of their most popular album, Aqualung.

I've always loved unique singers, and Ronnie Spector certainly had that unique voice back the early sixties when she and her abusive husband  Phil produced "mini-symphonies for teenagers."  The Ronettes scored big hits with songs like Be My Baby, Baby I Love You and Walkin' In The Rain!   Want to read a great rock and roll book?  Then check out "Be My Baby - How I Survived Mascara, Mini-Skirts and Madness" by Ronnie Spector.  Former husband Phil is wasting away in jail for murder now a days, and after reading the book you would agree that it truly sucked be married to him and that it's amazing that Ronnie still has a pulse.
