On this date in 1964, the Beatles released their first film, it inspired the Monkee's TV show, so it had to be a corny work of art.  Time magazine rated it "as one of the all-time great 100 films."

Yup, Ringo got lost in A Hard Day's Night, but here's a spoiler alert for you, the concert went on!  Here's a bit of trivia for you:  During the films final production there was pressure put on the director of the movie to overdub the band's voices so that people in America could understand them better. Apparently an angry Paul McCartney replied, "Look, if we can understand a fucking cowboy talking Texan, they can understand us talking Liverpool." 'Nuff said.

Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and John Bonham played together for the first time on this date in 1968.  It was at a little studio in London's West End, and the very first song that the foursome ever played?  Train Kept A-Rollin, a "jump blues" classic made famous by Johnny Burnette and the The Rock And Roll Trio.  By the way, a month later the band members would begin to call themselves Led Zeppelin.  Rock and Roll!

In 1972, Alice Cooper scored a #1 song with School's Out!  Alice was asked one time "What's the greatest three minutes of your life?" He replied, "One is Christmas morning, the next one is the last three minutes of the last day of school."  Alice will be here in Bangor at the Cross Center with Motley Crue on October 18th.  I asked Alice about a line in the classic rock song, listen to what the boy, or, well yeah I guess boy had to say!

Mark Knopfler, the fine British singer songwriter, guitarist, and leader of Dire Straits turns 66 today.  The man ranks 27th on Rolling Stone Magazine's 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time list, and it's well deserved.  There was no missing that distinct guitar sound when one first heard Sultans Of Swing!  Yeah, we'll be pickin' and grinnin' all day as Dire Straits are the I-95 Artist/Band of the Day!  And what is my favorite song by Dire Straits?  Well I'll play that Mofo today during A Whole Lotta Lunch!
