Not many lives have been altered so differently as this guy's was on this date in 1962.  The road to fame had just been started, and then it was squelched instantly.  And the misery would just enhance as the years went by.

The Beatles sent Pete Best who was their drummer, packing.  Later that day, John Lennon called Ringo Starr and offered him a job.  Ringo accepted and started work three days later.

After being out of the music business for many years, Pete Best (73) tour periodically, playing mostly older songs that the Beatles played in their early years. He says on his website, "We were at our best when we were playing in the dance halls of Liverpool and Hamburg. The world never saw that."

Oh man, "What a field day for the fuzz!" After being found by cops crawling along a corridor in an incoherent state within a San Diego hotel, Stephen Stills was busted on this date in 1970.  It wasn't one of his better nights.  Cops found drugs and took him downtown where he was later freed on bail.

It was on this date in 1985 that Michael Jackson stepped in the middle of another fight between Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono.  He eventually walked away with the rights to two hundred and fifty Beatles songs.  McCartney and Ono had been negotiating for the songs when Yoko suddenly decided to drop out for 'astrological' reasons.  So just think, if the stars had been aligned correctly, Jackson never would have wound up with the catalog of songs.  That damn constellation!

On this date in 1995, The Foo Fighters showed up on network TV for the first time.  It was on David Letterman's program and they played This Is A Call.

David Crosby, one fifth of The Byrds, one quarter of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, one third of Crosby, Stills & Nash, and one half of Graham Nash and David Crosby, was born on this date in 1941.  Of course David played at Woodstock, he also played with himself and then donated his seed to rocker Melissa Etheridge and her partner so that the couple could have children. David's been in jail a few times, is on his second liver, and thinks that Neil Young's girlfriend is a tramp,  but you know it's only rock n' roll!
