What does a guinea pig and disco music have in common?

It was on this date in 1968 that geeks in the University of Tennessee's audio lab released their findings after a three month long study.  Seems they blared disco music into the ears of a poor defenseless guinea pig for 88 hours at 120 decibels.  It was reported that the pig suffered acute damage to the inner ears. After reading the findings the owner of a major New York City disco said, ""Should a major increase in guinea pig attendance occur at The Scene, we'll certainly bear their comfort in mind."

Meanwhile, descendants of the original subjected guinea pig have evolved into a more relaxed breed because of that audio experiment.

Rock's "Golden God", Robert Plant, turns 67 today. Plants has no plans to re-unite with his former Zeppelin band mates, saying essentially been there and done that, and that he doesn't want to continue to play the classics like some mundane has been.  He currently tours with his band the Sensational Space Shifters and they will be in Boston on October 20th.  In 2011, readers of Rolling Stone ranked Plant the greatest of all lead singers.

One thing that's real cool about Plant getting old, is that he doesn't wear those little shirts anymore.
